Love or Prison?
Over the last few years, I was actually only chanced to celebrate what we call valentine, tho I never knew the actual purpose of this widely spread celebration instead, I just embraced the infatuation side of valentine. This was tho about 2 years back, the first and the last time I had anything called a val.
I could remember clearly, locked in my own prowling thoughts pondering on the possibilities of gifts that were within my giving capacity.
Tons of thoughts danced through my mind and finally, I was gifted with my perfect idea for a gift, data. Don't laugh, there's an adage that says, what really matters is not the content of the gift but the content of the heart.
Well, I've heard series of valentine stories and valentine gifts over the years and I must say, this generation really do not understand the actual meaning of love but rather are immersed in the infatuated side of love which I call imprisoned without a reason.
Why so?
Love is not butterflies in the belly and love is not even a responsibility but rather, an actual conviction.
You can't declare you love someone you just met and classify it as love at first sight nah, I call it lust at first sight.
Now, why the Interrogative statement, love or Prison?
Like I said earlier, "Love is not butterflies in the belly and love is not even a responsibility but rather, an actual conviction."
When you have the mentality of butterflies in my belly or love being a responsibility, you get locked up in what I call a desire cell. Don't get me wrong, I am not against giving, but making you understand that, when you think in the sense of butterflies in my belly, you will make decisions that could land you in confusion and later regret since your mind itself was busy flying around like a butterfly.
Additionally, when you think love is a responsibility, you loose the real sense of giving, especially if you're doing it out of your will. As the adage says, what matters is the content of the heart not the content of the gift. You could gift your partner or your loved ones a valuable and an expensive gift without it actually coming from your heart, that is what I mean by seeing love as a responsibility. The same thing applies even to someone who got a cheap gift that is not from his heart, responsibility.
Responsibility means a duty or a liability. That is, you see giving as a burden instead of a conviction that you truly care. When this happens, love becomes a prison
